Chris Barber In Budapest

CD

Kunstner: Chris Barber
Format: Audio / Video | Indspillet opførelse

Recorded in 1962, Chris Barber In Budapest is a short but energetic disc packed with crisp performances of some of Barber’s more unusual works. Featuring the peerless Ottilie Patterson on Vocals, the Banjo in the magical hands of Eddie Smith, and the Trumpet of Pat Halcox, this amazing group of musicians combine to produce an unmistakable sound.

Chris Barber is a trombonist and bandleader, renowned for having maintained a consistent traditional jazz sound over decades of performances. His band has always incorporated new arrangements while sticking with the upbeat style that works for them, keeping their jazz as fresh as ever.

I find the Barber band, like some others, most exciting live, and this is a good example, with a couple of unusual tunes as well, and there's always room for anything from the peerless and still much missed Ottilie.
      Very short for the money
