I, as a teacher always use this book, mainly because pupils enjoy it, and it progresses through techniques that impress both pupil and teacher.

I find this great for kids and young adults who don't have the motivation or time to work on studies. The exercises are short enough for the student to feel a sense of achievement, and the technical aspects covered are a very valid.

A fantastic collection of technical studies to help with a whole host of techniques and to promote flexibility and strength of hands and fingers. Use notes from C below middle C to the C above middle C (mostly) so can be used by a pre-grade 1 student. Fun, clear, interesting and effective.

This book, and the entire Dozen a Day series, are a fantastic way for young players to build up the strength and technique needed to become good players. I used these books from the age of 6 and they proved an invaluable aid to me as a beginner. The only drawback is that for a youngster, the excercises can be a bit dull, but I assure you they are worth sticking with as the benefits far outweigh this small drawback.

What a fun way to build up technique and skills! It's not long and traditional which can be a little boring for young children.

Superb for complete beginners of ALL ages. Great little short exercises to improve your playing from day one. I use as warm ups and short studies.

In a way this book is very simple, but it really does offer a progressive vehicle for piano technique. The exercises are short, and start from absolute basics. You can set one or two a week for a pupil, and the simplicity means they can concentrate on learning the technique that each one focusses on. And because the exercises take hadly any time to learn, pupils don't get bored, either.

This is a great series of books which the children enjoy. The pieces are short, are good warm up practise excercises, and also develop sight reading.

I was introduced to A Dozen a Day study books by my children's teachers nearly thirty years ago and have used them successfully with all my pupils. They are a good way of warming up the fingers at the beginning of a lesson or individual practice and introduce new techniques in a simple and easily achievable way.

Excellent technical exercises, pianistically arranged, easy to sight-read. Students of all ages always enjoy these, which are good for warming up as well as supporting technical development. Also useful to supplement sight-reading, and as a learning tool for transposition to other keys! Original, clear format; illustrations simple and imaginative, cleverly depicting the required skill for each exercise. Appropriately written for each grade / level.

These "do what they say on the tin" exercises are great. I used them as a child when I was learning and use them myself with my pupils. They are short so don't labour a point, but are fab for concentrating on a particular element of technique.

Consolidates scales, arpeggios, chords, and music reading. My pupils have a real sense of achievement as they progress through the book.

Ideal for use with children who have been learning for a couple of months. The exercises are short, lasting only a few bars, so can be learnt fairly quickly, and are useful warmup exercises for the start of lessons. Can be used with adults too, as long as they don't mind the stickmen drawings and childish titles of the exercises.
